So glad you stopped by!
- Lauren Eberspacher
- Hello there! And welcome to the farm! This is the story of our everyday life. Around here, we like green tractors, drink sweet tea, drive Chevy trucks, grow corn and beans, pray on our knees for rain and believe the best part of the day is when we all join hands around the table for dinner. I'm a Christ follower, a coffee addict, a burnt smores eater, Mommy to my sweet littles - Nora Sue and Andersyn Joy, bride to my bearded farmer and a learn in progress farm wife. Come along with me on my journey from the city blacktop to the country dirt road!
Sunrise Road
I have been pinning like a mad woman the past few months trying to get some ideas together for our new home-the home that we are going to spend the rest of our lives in! Making all of these decisions and filtering ideas has been so fun, but so overwhelming at the same time. The most overwhelming part so far has been figuring out the layout/blueprints for the house-it's still a work in progress, but Eric and I are both totally on the same page with what we want, so that has made the process quite a bit easier. I have had tons of people asking me what the plans for our house are like, how I am going to decorate, etc., so I thought it would be fun to put together a post for what we are thinking and get some feedback.
Because we are living on the farm, we WANT a farmhouse. My goal is for you to drive down the lane, see the house and feel like your at the farm. When you walk in, I want guests to feel warm and feel farm fresh. Not so much a cottage style, but a true farmhouse. I hope to use lots of old barn wood, doors, windows, farm "gear" to decorate and give the home a rustic feel. One of my other goals is for things to be clean-no, I'm not talking dirt clean (but that's nice, too!), but clean and put together. Not too many knick-knacks (I have a lot of those now) and for all of the rooms to have a nice, consistent flow. So here are some of my favorite pins and ideas thus far.
1. Outdoor Home
I would LOVE to have these all over our property!
This is a MUST! Have a window with a bar from the kitchen to the deck.
Can't you just see little Nora propped up on one of those chairs sipping
on sweet tea and munching cookies?
We are definitely going with a wrap around porch with stone
Outdoor eating area
Porch bed swing :)
Walls:
Hoping to get lots of old windows, doors, etc. to decorate the walls with
Color scheme: these aren't exactly the colors I want, but I like this
panel. Wanting to do a clean grey with gold and green accents, with a
cotton white trim. NOT blue-grey...grey-grey. This is important, folks.
LOVE this look!
I would love to have old barn wood on some of our walls-not sure which walls just yet, but I'm going to use it!
I really like the high baseboards. I want them to stand out and make a statement. Love the grey and white contrast.
Kitchen:
This is the BIGGEST excitement for me! This has been where most of my
pinning/dreaming has taken place. We would like cotton white cabinets
with silver hardware and dark hard wood floors. I would love to see some
glass cabinets, maybe even some chicken wire? Not totally sure about
that yet, but it's a thought running through my mind. I really want a
built in spice rack on either side of a built in stove and, of course,
TWO OVENS! Oh my, that will be the best thing ever.
I just think this kitchen is lovely!
Both Eric and I really would love to have some type of booth seated
area. His parents have this in their house now and it's a family
favorite :)
An old door to the pantry
Love the openness to the dinning room
THIS grey and THOSE light fixtures are heaven on earth!
Laundry:
I have one request...and this is it...plus a sink...
That way Eric and the kiddos can come in all dirty from the field and
playing and strip down right there and not track mud in through the
house. Would love to have a bathroom at the end of this hall as well so
they can just hop into the shower!
Living Room:
Love the barn wood in the bookshelves! We have bookshelves in our home now and would love to have some in our new home as well
Super clean and bright! Plus, the chandelier is amazing. even if you can just see half of it :)
Openness from the kitchen to the living room is a must for us! And this
brick fireplace is gorgeous! It has a beautiful whitewash finish to it
that both Eric and I love
Play/Craft Room:
We have planned for this room to be up in the loft area. I really want
an place where the kids (and me) can go, have a blast and get messy and
creative! I am so excited about this room!
Bedrooms:
I want each bedroom to be unique to who sleeps in it. They don't
necessarily have to totally go with the flow of the rest of the house,
but I want each kid and Eric and I to really feel comfortable and happy
in our rooms
Dining Room:
Everyone tells us to not add a dining room in our new house. I say
boo-hoo to that! I always remember eating at the dining room table for
special dinners - it just made it that more important what we were
celebrating. I want our dining room to be a place that we use often,
like when one of our kids gets a great grade on a test and they get to
pick out what we have for dinner that night, special awards banquets,
birthdays, etc.
Bathrooms:
I still can't quite figure out exactly what I like for
bathrooms...surprisingly those have been the hardest rooms for me to get
concrete ideas of what I like
So there you have it! These are some of my favorite ideas for our new
home! I know that it's not all going to happen overnight, and I know
that there will be a lot of hard work and patience put into it, but the
way I see it, is that we have our whole lives to make this house exactly
how we want it. And I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else :) Again,
prayers for our meeting with the bank Monday!
Thanks For Lauren Eberspacher this is really good artickle.
